Further skills development

I have now added some pictures to my product, that has given me the chance to be able to start to design my product around it. I then had to arrange my text around the pictures so that, it can look like a real magazine. I had to analyse their DPS and see how i could fit mine to do the same. i make my header bigger and change the font so sans serif and make it much bigger.

i next had to arrange my pictures in to my DPS. First i arrange my pictures to the right size. Then i had to add a white border around it, by doing this i had to add a rectangle border around it and change the border to white. once i had done that i put the picture on top but made sure that i sent it forward so that i could see it.  Then i had to group the two things together s that i could rotate them all together. To do this i had to select it and chose rotate. After i did all of this i then added a drop shadow to the pictures to give it more effect. i had to change the opacity to at least 18 to give it the shadow effect.

Skills that i have gained from using Indesign, is how to drop cap text into a box. I have also learned how to text wrap, this is where you will have a quote insert in the middle of your DPS, then you have to go to windows and click text wrap and where you have the quote in the middle the text will form around it. I have also learned how to change my fonts in ways like how to but smaller gaps between texts. 

What i have also gained is how to arrange my works i have to look at examples from other magazines, so that it would look like a real magazine would. so i had to learn to put collums in, with the right margin space. so that it looks offical. 

I have also gained skills like how to add drop caps and pictures in my text. i have learned how to edit my picture on DPS so that it might look zoomed up and you will only see some parts of the picture. 

Your life you times Skills development: Indesign

For my development on my magazine i have used Indesign to make my DPS i have had to learn skills like:
How to place a text. You have to make a new box, that you are going to insert text in to. you have to go to file and place and then find the article that i have written for my DPS and then i had to insert it. what i learned next was how to text flow. This is when you insert a text in to a box but there is to much text so you drag a red box to another box you have created and it will automatically inserts it's self and you do this until you have run out of text. I also learned how to create a new document when i need to start a new project. I also learned how to insert pictures you do the exact same thing you did for the text but make sure that your pictures are saved (backed up) some where else also.

I have learned some more skills development making my DPS for my magazine being:

•   Having a text wrap, this is where you will have a quote insert in the middle of your DPS, then you have to go to windows and click text wrap and where you have the quote in the middle the text will form around it. 

•   I have also learned how to insert a drop cap. This is when at the beginning of a paragraph you want to make the first letter bigger then the rest.  

While writing my article i also developed some language skills, so that my article can be to the best of it's ability

• ·       The language skills that I have develop was research skill looking on the Internet newspapers and videos to get information.
• ·       I also learned about paragraphing, how many that I should have and how long they are, I learned that the shorter the paragraphs that you have the younger or less educated the audience will be, this is because the younger generation get distracted easily and have a short attention span, so you keep them short.
• ·       I now have information about youth orientated language from colloquial language
• ·       I had already had information about pronouns, different language, semantic fields and narrative skills.
